Є017 voice
[It takes some time, but Elena does eventually get around to talking to some of the people who gave her gifts.]
voice - bond.
Very funny, Jimmy.
[But she does appreciate he's taken a sense of humor about the whole thing. That feels better than taking it seriously, to be perfectly honest.]
voice - mal.
[Now this one feels a little awkward. Elena has never had much use for Mal when she had her emotions off and even after turning them on, she's somewhat tried to keep her distance. And now Mal has gifted her with a weapon, one she knows how to use.]
Can I ask why?
voice - abigail.
[Elena hardly knows what to say, so she just sticks to the basics and decides to let it go from there.]
It's beautiful. Thank you.
voice - arkin.
Did you make this? [Which she realizes is a stupid question because obviously. Duh.] I just didn't know you could do something like this.
voice - dean.
[It takes her a good long while, but she does get to Dean eventually. She doesn't know how to express everything that it is she's feeling, so she settles with a simple:]
Thank you.
[Everything he might need to know is in her voice. She does nothing to hide her emotions there anymore.]
voice.
[Elena remembers what happened the last time the Admiral made an announcement like that and she hesitates, but only for a fraction of a second:]
Caroline? Alaric? [A pause. She's not asking for Damon. If she has to talk to him, fine. But she's not really wanting to talk to him right away.] Can you guys hear me again?
voice - bond.

[She seems a little overeager, maybe, but - she doesn't think she's good at getting gifts for people she really likes. The fact that Elena likes it releases a lot of weird, nervous tension.]
private
[There's a little nervous energy to Elena's voice, but it's a good nervous for a change. Not awkward and uncomfortable like it had been the past few times she'd spoken to Abigail since turning her humanity back on.]
private
[Or at home, she thinks; maybe Elena will get to go home. Maybe she can wear it there.]
[The thought causes her pain in her chest, right under her heart. It doesn't show in her voice; she's all smiles.]
I don't really know much about. Girly gifts. So I'm glad it's not too weird.
private
[And Elena is genuine about that. It carries over clear as day in her voice.]
Did you get the necklace?
private
I never . . . really wore necklaces before, and then since my dad died I just wore the scarf, so - thank you double for that. More reason to keep the scarf off, so everyone can see it.
private
There should be vervain inside of it still. Not that I have my compulsion back or would use it, but just in case.

[She reaches into her pocket, where it's been sitting - where she's been thinking about it - and lets the chain run through her fingers. Then she loops it around her neck and double-checks the latch.]
You're awesome.
private
You're not so bad yourself.
private
[The intense dishonesty of this is hilarious to her.]
